Body Balance Classes
The vision for Body Balance was born from a desire to support women to regularly nurture and nourish their bodies through pregnancy and postpartum.
I was already providing birth education classes, perinatal massage and pelvic bodywork, but I found most women weren’t receiving any support or self care in between sessions.
In collaboration with yoga teacher and bodyworker Jaye Seal, Body Balance classes were designed to provide nurturing movement and maintenance for pelvic alignment and pelvic floor support, as well as a supportive space for mothers to gather and build their village.
Body Balance classes bring together a fusion of yoga, gentle strengthening, stretching, alignment and release techniques to optimise pelvic alignment, core strength and pelvic floor function.
The sessions are 45-minutes long in small intimate class sizes, usually offered as a series of weekly sessions over three or five weeks.
Over the years, the classes have evolved into three distinct offerings:
- Prenatal Body Balance: for pregnant mothers
- Pelvic Floor & Postpartum Body Balance: for mothers and women of all life stages
- Mums and Bubs Body Balance: for mothers and pre-crawling babies

Prenatal Body Balance
A gentle fusion of prenatal yoga, pelvic alignment and stretching techniques for mobility and comfort during pregnancy.
Prenatal Body Balance classes focus on bringing alignment and comfort to your body during pregnancy, creating optimal positioning and space for your baby and an easier birth experience for you.
Birthworker and pelvic alignment specialist Shelly Langford and yoga teacher and bodyworker Jaye Seal have come together to create these classes for pregnant mothers of Far North Queensland.
Our aim is to support and nurture your body and help you build confidence and feel empowered for your birthing experience, preparing body, mind and spirit for birth, and its rites of passage.
Prenatal Body Balance might be suitable for you if you are:
- Beginner, intermediate or advanced – our classes are tailored for all levels
- Experiencing common aches and pains of pregnancy
- Looking for natural relief and nurturing movement for your body
- Wanting to optimise baby’s position in preparation for birth
- Seeking support to maintain pelvic alignment between bodywork appointments
- Wanting to feel stronger, more mobile and balanced
- Wanting to build a village of other mothers on this journey with you
Pelvic Floor & Postpartum Body Balance
The Pelvic Floor and Postpartum Body Balance class focuses on improving the responsiveness and functionality of the pelvic floor for women of all life stages outside of pregnancy, including postpartum, menopause and beyond.
By improving pelvic floor function, we also strengthen our core, support bladder and sexual health, reduce back pain and increase hip mobility.
We can achieve this by creating pelvic alignment, which generates tension when we need it, such as when we sneeze, cough, run or jump, and releases tension when we don’t need it, such as when we eliminate, give birth, or during intimacy.
These 45-minute classes combine a fusion of yoga, strengthening, stretching, pelvic alignment and breath awareness techniques to support pelvic floor function for women of all ages, outside of pregnancy.
Pelvic Floor & Postpartum Body Balance might be suitable for you if you are:
- A woman at any stage of life outside of pregnancy and at least 6 weeks postpartum
- Navigating perimenopause, menopause and beyond
- Experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder leakage, prolapse or pelvic pain
- Wanting to strengthen your core and pelvic floor
- Wanting to build a village of other mothers on this journey with you
Mums and Bubs Body Balance
The Mums and Bubs Body Balance class combines all the best yoga fusion, stretching, strengthening and alignment techniques from our Pelvic Floor and Postpartum Class, with the love, connection and skin to skin joy of bringing your little one along.
These classes are exclusively for postpartum mothers with babes in arms (pre-crawlers) and are designed to provide you with an opportunity for much needed physical and emotional nurturing and nourishment for yourself, while honouring your need to remain close and connected with your baby during this sacred time.
You are supported to take breaks, change and feed your baby as needed, include them in the exercise, or simply allow them to babble or sleep beside you.
Your host Jaye Seal combines postpartum yoga with restorative pelvic floor exercises, pelvic alignment, core conditioning and mobility techniques, to provide a holistic and effective program that is ideal for the postpartum window.
Mums and Bubs Body Balance might be suitable for you if you are:
- At least 6 weeks postpartum
- Looking for supportive postpartum specific exercise that your baby can join
- Seeking support to gently nurture, strengthen and support your postpartum body
- Ready to gently begin public outings in a safe and supportive space
- More comfortable in small intimate class sizes
- Wanting to build a village of other mothers on this journey with you
