Internal Pelvic Release Work

Internal Pelvic Release Work combines external alignment and internal release techniques to reduce pelvic pain and improve pelvic floor function.

This form of bodywork focuses on releasing tension in the soft tissues and ligaments that support the pelvic organs, including the bladder, bowel, uterus, cervix and vagina.

Tension in the soft pelvic tissue can stem from pregnancy and birth, injuries, scars, surgery, physical and emotional trauma, hobbies and postural and breathing habits.

This tension can result in misalignment, weakness and pain, manifesting in a range of symptoms including pelvic prolapse, incontinence and bladder leakage, painful intercourse, painful periods, vaginismus and more.

Combining gentle woman-led touch and directed breathing, areas of tension are identified and invited to release, often bringing relief from pelvic symptoms.

Internal Pelvic Release Work Session

The Internal Pelvic Release Work session combines both external alignment techniques to restore balance to the bony pelvis and pelvic ligaments, along with internal touch to identify and release areas of tension in the soft tissues of the pelvis.

This form of professional bodywork is woman-led, completed with the full control and guidance of the woman receiving the treatment, who is supported to use breath and self awareness to complete the release.

The pelvic floor stores tension from stress, pelvic imbalance, posture, pregnancy, birth, injury, trauma, and even the way we breathe.

And this tension can contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction and either tightness or weakness leading to pain, discomfort, sexual dysfunction, incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

These issues can occur at any stage of life, but may become more prevalent with the added weight and natural shifting of organs that occurs during pregnancy.

Internal Pelvic Release Work is suitable for women with:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urinary or bowel incontinence

Pelvic Preparation for Birth

This session is designed to help pregnant women connect with and understand their own pelvis as part of deeper preparation for birth.

You will learn about the space, strength and power your pelvis is capable of and how it expands to help your baby transition through the cardinal movements of birth.

This session can also be helpful if you’d like reassurance of your body’s ability to birth your baby, exploring the mobility and capacity of your pelvis to open and expand, especially when supported in upright and active birthing positions.

Together, we will map out your pelvic bones and then work externally and internally to help support release of tension in the pelvis, ligaments and soft tissues in preparation for birth.

External Pelvic Release Work – Using external alignment techniques to reduce tension in the ligaments and restore balance to the bony structures of the pelvis, bringing comfort and supporting optimal positioning and mobility for an easier birth experience.

Internal Pelvic Release Work – Gentle internal release techniques and guided breathing to identify and release tension in the soft tissues of the pelvis,  supporting the intelligent nature of the pelvic tissue to be more comfortable, responsive and supportive to the pelvic organs.
